The Origin of Humbirds
The concept for Humbirds came about when I was 15, at home during covid lockdown and exploring my love of art in new and exciting ways. I never intended it to be a business when I began, just a place to share who I was.
My mum agreed to do it with me, so we explored and ordered my starting items using my savings, I brought paper, envelopes and card to make business cards and thank you cards, all to match my first logo.
Then on January 1st 2021, the Facebook page was published to the world, and it picked up so quickly, I had friends and family sharing it, people enquiring about paintings and commissions. The covid love for small businesses was in full flux and fully ready to support little ole me. It picked up so well that I had to close my commissions in February 2021.
From there I continued experimenting with different paintings, projects and themes, I brought a cutting machine and started making card products, my own stickers and so much more. My mum documented all of it on Facebook and was constantly over my shoulder taking photos whilst I worked.
Summer 2021 was the point we started an instagram page, continued avoiding the dreaded TikTok and just kept creating in my own way.
